A month-long investigation of string of vehicle and residential burglaries in Ascension Parish led to the arrest on July 2 of a work-release escapee from the Concordia Parish Jail and his 15-year-old nephew, Sheriff Jeff Wiley said in a release.

A driver suspected of crashing into a motorcyclist around 11:49 p.m. Friday on Hwy. 22 east of Hwy. 61 and then fleeing the scene turned himself in to authorities, State Police said in a release Monday.

A local teenager died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident  Saturday afternoon just outside the Gonzales city limits on Roddy Road between Hwy. 429 and Airline Highway, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said.
