The Ascension Parish School Board will hold a special meeting Monday, July 6 to determine the final list of school improvements to be funded by about $100 million from a proposed four-year millage extension.
The board decided last week to place a proposition on the Oct. 17 ballot to extend an existing parish-wide millage to give the district enough money to renovate some of the parish's oldest school buildings.
The issue will go before the Bond Commission on July 23.
The 15.08-mill property tax was first approved in October 2005. The 20-year tax is scheduled to expire in 2025. The current request would extend it through 2029.
