The Ascension Parish School Board Tuesday night appointed Esrom Pitre as principal of Donaldsonville High School.

Pitre left a position as assistant professor of education at LSU-Shreveport last December to become associate principal at Donaldsonville High.

“We look forward to great things,” Pitre said after accepting the position.

Pitre previously worked as a teacher and basketball coach at East Ascension High School from 2002 to 2004.

He earned a doctorate of education and human resource studies from Colorado State University in 2006. He received a master’s degree in education administration/supervision from Southern University in 2001.

After graduating from Colorado State in 2008, Pitre became an assistant professor and teacher quality enhancement field placement coordinator at Metropolitan State College in Denver.
