Todd Borne, a student at River Parishes Community College in Sorrento, was awarded a Carter Academic-Service Entrepreneur grant through the Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Partnership Foundation and the Louisiana Campus Compact for his proposal to teach computer skills to senior citizens.
With the help of his facility advisor, Savitha Pinnepalli, a computer science instructor at RPCC, Borne developed the summer program and set up four new laptop computers at the Ascension Council on Aging.
Twice a week, he and other students work with 10 to 12 senior citizens on developing computer skills.
