St. Elizabeth Hospital, in partnership with the Parish of Ascension, has opened the door to quality primary care for uninsured and underinsured residents of Ascension by opening the St. Elizabeth Community Clinic in the Ascension Parish Health Unit, at 1024 S.E. Ascension Complex Blvd., Gonzales.
The clinic officially opened in a ceremony Wednesday. It is open Monday through Friday.
Patients can call 225-644-2616 to schedule appointments.
The clinic is staffed by two Family Nurse Practitioners, Ty Gautreau and Kristin Martin. They are assisted by Denise Lindsey, RN, and Patient Account Coordinators Jessica Babin and Amber Huffman.
The clinic is managed under the direction of Medical Director James D’Antoni, MD, and St. Elizabeth Hospital’s Pharmacy Director and AVP of Mission Integration Pete Guarisco.
Gonzales City Councilman Kenny Matassa, director of the Ascension Parish Health Unit, is credited with having the vision for the community clinic, the hospital said in a release.
“It has been a long time coming, but it is finally here,” said Matassa. “On behalf of the Parish of Ascension, thank you, thank you, and thank you again.”
“Our mission, inspired by the vision of St. Francis of Assisi, is to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to God’s people, especially those most in need,” said Dee LeJeune, St. Elizabeth Hospital president and CEO. “There is no better evidence and validation of that mission than to provide healthcare to those Ascension Parish residents who cannot otherwise receive it. As always, we are indebted to our sisters for making this possible.”
“It is a great day in Ascension Parish,” said Parish President Tommy Martinez. “This is so needed in this community. On behalf of myself and the Parish Council, I thank St. Elizabeth Hospital for their ongoing commitment to this parish.”
Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux said how pleased he was to have the community clinic in the City of Gonzales, and how great it is to have St. Elizabeth Hospital and Ascension Parish come together to assist our residents.
Fr. Gary Belsome, pastor of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, blessed and dedicated the clinic.
The event was also attended by a number of local dignitaries including, Parish Councilmen Pat Bell, Terance Irvin and Chris Loar.
Danny LeBlanc donated pastalaya for the event.
