The annual Evening Avenue Stroll in Donaldsonville is coming up on November 17, 5-10 p.m. The event takes place on Railroad Avenue. There will be Shopping, Food, Beverage, & FUN FOR ALL AGES! Black Iron Pot Cookoff

4th Annual Black Iron Pot Cook-off Saturday November 17 at Galvez Hardware and Outdoor Cooking. Cash and Trophies for “Top 5 cooks.” $30 entry fee “BE CREATIVE: COOK ANYTHING, YOUR FAVORITE DISH!” Rules: Cooks must cook in a black iron pot. You must cook at least 3 gallons, or enough to feed 20 people. All cooks must furnish everything they need to cook their dish. Tents, tables, banners, props are all recommended. (You will get a 10x10 area). Each dish will be judged on taste, originality and appearance. Wreaths Across America

On Saturday, December 15, 2018 members of the Ascension Parish Community will gather together to honor veterans during the holiday season as part of the annual Wreaths Across America Day. The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Ascension Veterans Memorial Park, 612 S. Irma Blvd, Gonzales, La. Donations and specific requests are now being accepted for Ascension Parish’s 4th annual Wreaths Across America event. The wreaths are $15.00 each. Gonzales Youth Basketball

The City of Gonzales Youth Basketball League has scheduled registrations at City Hall on November 3, 10, and 17. Times will be 9 a.m. until noon each day. Cost of registration is $50. 27th Annual Tree Lighting

Tuesday, December 4 at 6 p.m. visit the Christmas Tree Lighting in front of Gonzales City Hall. Santa will be at the Gonzales Civic Center giving a gift to all children (infant to 5th grade). Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Jambalaya provided by the JFA. Entertainment provided by Center Stage Performing Arts Academy. The Girl Scout Troops will be spreading good cheer, as well.

Senior Citizen Xmas Party

LA 44 Lane Closure

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that there will be intermittent lane closures on Monday, November 19, on LA 44 at Causey Road and LA 933. These closures are necessary in order for the contractor to switch to the new traffic signals. The closures will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Flaggers will be present in order to direct traffic during the closures.
