WBRZ is hosting the annual Pat’s Coats for Kids coat drive now through Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Pat’s Coats for Kids will collect monetary donations as well as used coats for children in need in our area.

For the past 30 years, Pat’s Coats for Kids and the Baton Rouge community have distributed more than 250,000 coats to meet the challenge of keeping the children in our area warm during our cold winter months. New or gently-used coats may be dropped off at any Neighbors Federal Credit Union and Coldwell Banker One locations or at The Baton Rouge Clinic. The full list of drop-off locations can be found at WBRZ.com.

For a donation of $20, a new coat will be purchased. Cash or checks made out to Pat’s Coats for Kids can be mailed or dropped off at WBRZ-TV, 1650 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA, 70802, or any location of Neighbors Federal Credit Union. Online donations may also be made at WBRZ.com using VISA, MasterCard or Discover.

WBRZ will host the seventh annual Pack the PODS Day on Wednesday, November 14, at Walmart on College Drive. Together, WBRZ, in conjunction with community support, will pack a PODS. Monetary donations will also be collected. Pack the PODS Day will be aired throughout the day on WBRZ‘s 2une In, Noon, 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. newscasts, with a complete recap at 10 p.m.

"It was gratifying to recently hear that Pat’s Coats for Kids is an institution for Baton Rouge," WBRZ Chief Forecaster Pat Shingleton said. "As WBRZ has always assisted in this community in many ways, the need for warm coats has once again been identified and we will embrace this challenge to keep kids warm as we have done for many years."

The coats will be picked up by the school counselors on Friday, December 14 at the studios of WBRZ. The counselors will distribute the coats to the needy children before their holiday break.

PODS, The Boy Scouts of America, and the Baton Rouge Chapter of St. Vincent de Paul are partnering again with WBRZ to handle the collection, storage, sorting and distribution of the coats.

Pat’s Coats for Kids is sponsored by Coldwell Banker One, Energy, The Baton Rouge Clinic and Neighbors Federal Credit Union. For more information on Pat’s Coats for Kids, visit WBRZ.com.
