During the week of October 22-October 26, 2018, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Bryce Castille, 45034 Reeves Rd. Prairieville, La., age 31, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and 2nd Degree Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

2. Jamie Rossi, 44066 Rossi Rd. St. Amant, La., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years home incarceration to be monitored by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with the first year being served at an in-patient treatment center.

3. Owen Shelton, 1533 Natchez Lane Laplace, La., age 29, pled guilty to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 3 years of the said sentence are to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence, and the remaining 3 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on supervised probation for 3 years. In addition, the defendant must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator.

4. Lyndon Pousson, 204 Annex Rd. Reserve, La., age 31, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Shawn Bush and Phil Maples. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

Assumption Parish:

1. Steven Blaine, 3328 Back Marais Lane Napoleonville, La., age 35, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

2. Jacee James, 39366 Hwy 621 Gonzales, La., age 27, pled guilty to Distribution of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

3. Chance Landry, 117 Pond Dr. Morgan City, La., age 29, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Distribution of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 11 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

4. Glenn Naquin, 660 N Belle River Rd. Pierre Part, La., age 42, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner.

5. On August 29, 2018, Cedric Dupaty of Napoleonville, La., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids 3 rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On October 24, 2018, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 3 years of the said sentence must be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

St. James Parish:

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
