"The day was filled with cowgirls and cowboys, dancing, eating and riding the bucking bull."

The Arc of East Ascension held their annual Fall Fest at the Crystal Chateau in Dutchtown on October 18. Members of the Arc have special needs and events such as this are regularly scheduled.

"This was one of the most exciting and memorable events that we have planned for our clients," Arc Marketing Director Sharon Morris said. "The day was filled with cowgirls and cowboys, dancing, eating and riding the bucking bull. Thanks to all sponsors, volunteers, staff and to everyone that helped made the event such a memorable event."

The Arc asked to share a special thanks to Maria at The Crystal Chateau for her donation of the venue and all the décor.

Sponsors for the event included Maria at the Crystal Chateau, Lamendola Supermarket, Bet R Neighborhood Market, Delaune’s Supermarket, Bergeron’s Boudin & Cajun Meats, Coke-a-cola BR, DeeJay Andre Gouzaque, Red River Bank-Ice Cream Truck, and Sac’s.

The Arc also asked to acknowledge its awesome volunteers: AARP 1449, Louisiana Federal Credit Union, Pelican State Credit Union, Ascension Parish Gov. Maintenance Dept., Weekly Citizen, and Arc’s Staff.

"We try to go with what their ideas are," Arc Director Liz Fussell said. "We just keep hitting around ideas until we come up with something."

Fussell could be seen dressed as a cowgirl, photographing and having fun. Louisiana State Representative Tony Bacala also made an appearance at the Crystal Chateau.

"It's the kind of thing that makes our community what it is," Bacala said. "There's people reaching out across groups for the quality of life. I think so many people recognize how important the Arc is and the community they serve."
