"Although this is a grand opening, we want to bring the focus onto our dogs and the idea of adopting, not shopping. All of the money that is being raised today is going towards the rescue dogs."
It's a waggin' good time when a new member of the family comes home.
Sometimes, you have to leave your new furry friend at home though. Leaving them caged up for days on end isn't an option, either. Thankfully, there's a place like Camp Bow Wow that will take care of your little pal while you're away.
Camp Bow Wow had their grand opening at the Prairieville location with their event called Furry Fiesta. They had a soft opening in June and have been operating since.
Drew Detlefs, the owner of Camp Bow Wow, said, "Although this is a grand opening, we want to bring the focus onto our dogs and the idea of adopting, not shopping. All of the money that is being raised today is going towards the rescue dogs."
There were plenty raffle options at the event, too. One raffle involved paying $15 dollars to win a gift card of greater value to Raising Canes, Chick-fil-A, and PJ's Coffee of New Orleans, to name a few. There were also baked goods that could be purchased and a snowball truck to help satisfy a sweet tooth.
Additionally, Painting and Pinot had a table set up with information on their Paint your Pet event. This will be hosted by Camp Bow Wow and Painting and Pinot on October 10. It will be a night of fun, laughing, and fundraising.
The event offered the option to adopt dogs while there. Within the first hour of it a few dogs had already been adopted. A few of the groups that brought dogs included Dante's Hope, St. Francis Helping Hands, Second Chance Dog Rescue, Cara's House, and Friends of the Animals Baton Rouge.
Needless to say, Camp Bow Wow achieved what they set out to do at their grand opening, and many of the rescue dogs found their FURever homes.
