Help people, even when you know they can't help you back.
Once a month in Darrow, La., Harvest Time Worship Center distributes food from their food bank between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Harvest Time follows state regulations when evaluating if someone qualifies for food distributions.
"People are certified by income or if they receive some type of assistance, as well as their household number," Pastor Ronald Guillory Sr. said.
Those who apply, and are approved, receive a card to bring with them every month. One of the members at the food bank will sign their card, then the individual can move on to picking out their items. A member who is helping with the food distribution might even help you pack up any items a person may decide to collect. You can pull up close to the door, too, so you don't have to lug around all of the items being received.
"Instead of using bags, we use boxes," Pastor Ronald said. "That makes it easier to carry and fill. Each person is allowed to receive 10 pounds. So, if there are three people in the household, that's 30 pounds."
A few items included fruits, meats, and vegetables. They are located at 4462 Jenkins Road.
