All six parish high-schools will be in action on Friday night.

Ready or not, it's time for some high-school football.

Teams throughout the state competed in their jamboree games last week. They were able to participate in two quarters of real-game action to get them ready for this Friday night.

Now, they're all set for the first week of the regular season.

All six parish high-schools will be in action on Friday night.

Starting off in Class 1A, Ascension Catholic will begin their regular season with a road game against Mentorship Academy.

Mentorship is coming off of a dreadful 0-9 campaign. One of those losses came against the Bulldogs. Ascension Catholic beat them in last season's matchup by a final score of 63-16.

The Bulldogs are seeking a Division-IV state championship after reaching the title game in 2017. They return 18 starters from that state runner-up squad.

Ascension Catholic got off to a great start in the jamboree as they blanked the Class 2A Episcopal Eagles 20-0.

Ascension Christian will also be on the road in week one. They'll be visiting Springfield.

Springfield went just 2-8 in 2017, but one of those victories came against the Lions. They defeated Ascension Christian 34-7 in week one.

The Lions are looking to keep up the momentum of their football program. In their first six seasons, Ascension Christian went just 7-40. In the past three years, they've gone 21-7.

In Class 3A, Donaldsonville will also be on the road to open the 2018 regular season. The Tigers will visit an old rival in Assumption.

The Mustangs went 5-5 last season and reached the Class 4A playoffs.

One of their losses came against Donaldsonville in week one. The Tigers won that game by a score of 36-27.

Most of the recent matchups between the two teams have come down to the wire. Donaldsonville has won four of the last five matchups, but the wins have been by a combined 16 points.

The Tigers are replacing a big senior class that led them to eight wins, including a playoff victory in 2017.

In Class 5A, Dutchtown will begin their season at home against Walker.

The Wildcats had an impressive 2017 season as they went 6-4 during the regular season. This included a 35-10 win over the Griffins.

Dutchtown beat Denham Springs in their jamboree last week. They were forced to win without starting quarterback Delon Monroe, who injured his ankle at practice.

Backup Grant Arnett came in and led them to the victory. Arnett will be looking to do the same this Friday night against the Wildcats.

East Ascension was also impressive in their jamboree on Friday night. They blanked Woodlawn, 20-0.

Now, they'll host the season opener against Class 4A's Lutcher.

Lutcher had a rare losing season in 2017. Coming off of back-to-back state titles, the Bulldogs finished just 4-6 and missed the playoffs.

One of their losses was a 30-13 week-one defeat to East Ascension.

The Spartans went on to finish 8-2 during that regular season. This netted them a share of the District 5-5A championship. They also reached the second round of the playoffs.

Finally, St. Amant will open up their 2018 regular season at The Pit against John F. Kennedy at Lake Area, who went just 1-9 last year.

In week one of 2017, they were beaten by St. Amant, 24-6.

The Gators will be looking for the same kind of success this time around. They'll try to bounce back from a 14-7 loss to Central in their jamboree.

St. Amant is coming off of two straight years in which they won nine regular-season games.

Last season, their 9-1 campaign helped them capture a share of the District 5-5A title. They went on to reach the second round of the playoffs.
