929 Drainage Repairs

Ascension Parish Department of Public Works has announced that Highway 929 at Patty Joe Lane in Galvez will be closed beginning Monday, August 13, to upgrade drainage culverts. Traffic should detour on Parker Road to the north and Causey Road to the south. Repairs are expected to take four weeks.

I-10 Lane Closure

Single lane closures will take place on I-10 from Highland Rd. to HWY 73 starting Tuesday, August 8, through Thursday, August 10. There will only be one lane per direction will be closed at a time. Closure times are as follows: Wednesday, August 8: 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9 – WB; Thursday, August 9: 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Friday, August 10 – EB & WB. Permit loads over 11’ should call the permit office for alternate routes. The closure is necessary to work on the LA 928 bridge. DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

Dr. Louis LeFebvre at Main Street Dental Care in Gonzales, La. is participating in Freedom Day USA on October 11. This day is designed to honor and help our military by offering free dental services to current and retired military personnel, as well as their immediate family. Cancer Mind-Body Skills Group

6-Week Mind-Body Skills Group will meet Tuesdays, August 14, 21, 28, September 4, 11 & 18. This is a 6-week educational program to help cancer survivors and caregivers reduce stress, enhance the immune system, increase sense of well-being, and improve self-care. Healing Arts Workshop

Gov. Board Appointment

Jason M. Dedon, of St. Amant, was reappointed to the Louisiana Workforce Investment Council. Dedon is the Business Manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 995 and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He will serve as a representative of labor on the council.
