Trevor Hebert and Kallie deVeer, two young local rodeo stars, have continued to do big things recently.

Hebert won the 2018 State World Championship for Louisiana Junior High-School Rodeo Association for junior bulls and bareback.

He earned seven new buckles, two pairs of spurs and two beautiful new saddles.

Next up for Hebert, he’ll be making the trip to South Dakota for nationals.

As for deVeer, she qualified to compete at the World’s Largest Junior High Rodeo.

She won the average at the state finals in breakaway roping and placed second for the year in the state of Louisiana. This qualified her to attend national rodeo competition in Huron, S.D.

She returned home with four new buckles and a pair of championship spurs.

The students will compete at the 14th annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo June 24-30. The event features roughly 1,000 contestants from 43 states, five Canadian provinces, Australia and Mexico.

Live broadcasts of all NJHFR performances will air on www.RidePass.com. Performance times are 7 p.m. on June 24, and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day thereafter.
