Start Your Own Business

Ascension Parish Library invites all interested persons to attend a free small business seminar, Starting and Financing a Small Business. It is designed for individuals who want to learn what it takes to start and run a successful small business. The program will focus on helping participants learn how to determine the feasibility of their idea as well as how to obtain a small business loan. The speaker will be a senior business consultant with the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southern University and A&M College – Baton Rouge. Ascension GOP Roundtable

Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent, Katie Craft, and FBI Intelligence Analyst, Alice Sibley, will be the featured speakers at the June Ascension GOP Roundtable, sponsored by Ascension Republican Women. The Roundtable will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Clarion Inn, 1500 W. Highway 30 in Gonzales. The presentation by the two agents is entitled Identity Theft 101, and will feature identity theft and other internet crimes. 2018 Republican candidates are welcome to meet and greet with guests! The Cottoncrest Curse

“The Cottoncrest Curse” talk will be presented by Mike Rubin, local attorney and author, on Saturday, June 16, 10 a.m. at the Bluebonnet Library. Rubin will discuss his historical thriller, published by the LSU Press; the novel deals with both genealogy and the history of South Louisiana. The book won the Book of the Year Award at the American Library Association’s annual meeting in 2015 as the best thriller/suspense novel of the year published by a university or independent press.
