Throughout the course of their investigation, deputies learned that two acquaintances of the victim, 24-year-old Kirkpatrick Morrison of Prairieville and 22-year-old Lauren Donaldson of Prairieville, were at the victim's residence when a verbal argument turned physical.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office has made two arrests in the case of an early morning shooting that occurred in Gonzales on Tuesday and left one man dead. Police say 23-year-old Christopher Goudeau of Gonzales died at a nearby hospital after succumbing to his injuries.

Sheriff Jeff Wiley said his deputies responded to a residence near the corner of Black Bayou Road and Leblanc Road in Gonzales shortly after 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning. When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Godeau was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Both Morrison and Donaldson fled the scene in a vehicle. They were apprehended a short time later by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office after being involved in a traffic accident in Baton Rouge.

Both suspects have been arrested. Morrison is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault. Donaldson is charged with first-degree murder. Both were transported to the Ascension Parish Jail, and bond has not been set.

The investigation is still ongoing.
