Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop A reported Saturday, January 6 that 75-year-old Zora Marshall of Prairieville died due to injuries sustained in a car wreck on Friday in St. Amant.

"Shortly after 6 p.m. on January 5, 2018, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 431 near the intersection of Gold Place Rd. in Ascension Parish," reads the report by Trooper Bryan Lee.

The report continues to read that, "74-year-old Paul Marshall of Prairieville was traveling northbound on LA 431 in a 1995 Ford Econoline van. At the same time, 49-year-old William Huber of Gonzales was making a left turn onto LA 431 from a parking lot in a 2003 Dodge Ram. Huber failed to yield and struck Marshall’s vehicle."

According to LSP, Zora Marshall was properly restrained but sustained injuries in the crash. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Paul Marshall and Huber were properly restrained and were not injured in the crash.

However, Huber was cited for failure to yield, driving under suspension, and switched license plate.

Moreover, Huber has criminal convictions in the 23rd Judicial District Court dating back to a 1990 second-degree battery charge. In 2005 he was convicted of a schedule II narcotics charge and again for schedule II narcotics in 2013. In 2016, he was convicted for a schedule I narcotics charge.

He has had trouble with traffic violations in the past as well, including an expired motor vehicle inspection charge.

This crash remains under investigation and further charges are pending.
