Donaldsonville Christmas Activities

This Saturday, December 16, the Baton Rouge Mobile pantry will be at Donaldsonville Primary from 9-11 a.m. to give food to families in need. The APSO Christmas Crusade program will be held in D'ville at the courthouse from 10-noon handing out gifts. The Christmas Crusade program will also be held in Gonzales at the EA courthouse from 9-11 a.m. The Donaldsonville Christmas Parade will roll at 1 p.m., followed by the Christmas at the Park event.

EA and Dutchtown Freshman Academies open

A ribbon cutting will be held at East Ascension High School's new Freshman Academy Friday, December 16, at 11 a.m. Dutchtown High School will unveil their Freshman Academy on Monday, December 18, at 11:30 a.m.

Celebration in the Park

The 2017 Celebration in the Park event, hosted by St. Landry United Methodist Church, will be held December 17 from 3-4:30 p.m. at Jambalaya Park in Gonzales. The park is located at 120 South Irma Boulevard. There will be a free concert with music by Sounds of Praise, Cates Quartet and Electrifying Crown Seekers. For more information call 225-644-2345.

Food Bank

Harvest Time Food Bank will distribute food on Tuesday, December 19 between the hours of 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Location Harvest Time Worship Center, 4462 Jenkins Road, Darrow.

Marucci Patriots Softball

The Marucci Patriots are having 8u Girls Softball Tryouts for their 2018 Spring/Summer Team in Donaldsonville on January 7 from 9-11 a.m., next to Ascension Catholic Fields. They are looking for athletes born after 2008. For more info call Scott Delatte 225-717-1977 or Lacey Smith 225-323-7401. 

William Carey Deans List

Congrats to Samantha Marie Quave of St. Amant who made the Dean's List at William Carey University for the Fall Trimester. Dean's list scholars must have a 3.5 grade point average. William Carey has three campuses in Mississippi.

December Holiday Travel

DOTD reports: The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s Secretary, Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D., announced today that all oversize and overweight vehicle movement on all State highways will be prohibited on Monday, December 25 through Tuesday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday. In observance of the New Year holiday, vehicle movement will be prohibited on Monday, January 1 through Tuesday, January 2, 2018. This is to provide maximum safety for motorists traveling on State highways during this holiday. Moreover, the Truck Permit Office will also be closed Monday, December 25 through Tuesday, December 26, 2017 and Monday, January 1 through Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
