“This is an ongoing partnership,” said Kevin Hardy, Site Communications Director for Shell.

Shell Chemical, Geismar, has donated $10,000 to the River Parishes Community College Foundation to fund scholarships for area students enrolled in workforce degree and certification programs, such as process technology, non-destructive testing, welding, and mobile crane operation.

“This is an ongoing partnership,” said Kevin Hardy, Site Communications Director for Shell. “We are extremely interested in helping any student, from high school graduates starting their career to adult students who are looking to improve their work lives.”

During a campus visit, Hardy saw first-hand the progress RPCC is making on construction of its new Process Equipment Trainer (PET), which is a re-constructed, full-size, functional distillation unit the college received as a donation.

Hardy presented a check to Chancellor Dale Doty and Vice Chancellor of Workforce development Dr. Bruce Waguespack.

“Shell has been a long-time supporter,” Doty said. “We are proud that Shell continues to invest in our shared vision of creating a vibrant community through developing a highly skilled workforce for this area.”
