East Ascension's Maggie Britton is one of the parish's soccer players to watch in 2017.
Don’t look, but the high-school soccer season is now less than two weeks away, and as always, it should be a strong year in Ascension Parish.
Last season, all boy’s and girl’s teams reached the playoffs. That certainly may be the outcome again in 2017, with so many talented players returning.
Maggie Britton (East Ascension)
Last season, senior Maggie Britton established herself as the top goalkeeper in the parish.
In a year in which East Ascension reached the second round of the playoffs, Britton pitched 11 shutouts.
For her strong play, she made both first-team all-district and All-Metro.
Britton and the Lady Spartans will have a new head coach in Jennifer Franklin, after Chris Goodall stepped down after 15 seasons.
