On Wednesday, October 11, from 4:00 to 6:00 in the evening, the Bastrop Fire Department held its annual Open House at Station One. They provided fire safety information, gave out smoke detectors, and signed people up for installation of the detectors. They also offered tours of the station, and there was an appearance by Sparky the Firedog for the kids. Refreshments were provided as well. “The men of the Bastrop Fire Department just want the people of Bastrop to know we are here to protect them,” said Fire Chief Thomas Crowder.
