Southern University Law Center invites Restore Louisiana, Insurance Commissioner Jim
Donelon, and a team of local experts to provide a free flood relief summit for affected Louisiana
homeowners this Thursday, July 27th on the university's campus. Just one month leading up to
the highly-misinterpreted Proof of Loss Deadline and alongside Restore Louisiana's continued
outreach efforts, flood advocates will come together to answer the most pressing questions of
Homeowners will get the opportunity to learn what they need to know about the Restore LA
timeline, how to reduce recovery time when rebuilding their home, what the proof of loss
deadline really means for them and their family, how to fight contractor fraud, how to get the
money they're owed from flood insurance before it’s too late and much more!
Panelists include organizational members of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, Flood Proof
LA, Rebuild SOS, Catholic Charities of Baton Rouge, Louisiana Appleseed, Pandit Law’s Get
Flood Help initiative and Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America Disaster Program.
This free event is open to all members of the public and will be held on campus at Southern
University Law Center’s Smith Brown Ballroom, located on Roosevelt Steptoe Drive in Baton
Rouge. The summit will be held from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., with the 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. slot
reserved for uninsured homeowners and 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. slot reserved for insured
homeowners. Seating is limited.
