Dr. Miller told the audience that from a biblical perspective, the “Pursuit of Excellence” is all about us pursuing and doing the best we can with the gifts and abilities God has given to us, and in return, us giving our best to His glory. Dr. Miller challenged the four scholarship recipients to believe in themselves and develop a “Can Do Attitude,” based on the Word of God – “I can do all things through Christ which strenghteneth me.” (Philippians 4:13).

She also told them to remember, that with every success come hard work. Stay in the race and never ever give up. For in these seven decades of my life, I have learned from many wise persons that failure is not fatal; disappointment is not defeat; and delay is not denial. With God on your side, you will be successful.

Dr. Richard Rayborn II, Pastor of The Christian Assembly Full Gospel Church in Gonzales – expressed how proud he is of the recipients and their academic accomplishments. He indicated he know they will be successful in their pursuit of excellence because they are putting God first in their lives. He said, “Our Scholarship is a financial gift of encouragement for four deserving graduating seniors in the Ascension Parish Community.”

The Banquet was enthusiastically attended with over 150 guests and well-wishers.
