A tree lighting, parade and Christmas celebration are what's on tap in Ascension.

1. Gonzales tree lighting: The annual Gonzales Tree Lighting ceremony will take place this year at Jambalaya Park on Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. There will be festive activities all throughout the night, along with appearances from Santa Clause who will be giving out gifts to children infant through fifth grade. Entertainment will be provided by Center Stage.

2. Christmas Parade: The annual Gonzales Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. This years theme is Hard Candy Christmas. The parade will showcase a wide variety of decorated floats featuring several Parish dignitaries, Christmas music, local elementary and high school bands, dance teams, and the 2016 Jambalaya Queens.

3. Christmas at Houmas House: Houmas House Plantation and Gardens is holding their annual Christmas celebration on Dec. 11 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Associate Conductor David Torns and the BRSO Brass, Percussion and Harp perform all holiday favorites.Tickets can be purchased at tickets.brso.org.
