The AARP will again this year provide tax assistance for federal and state income tax filers at the American Legion Post 81, 421 E. City Park Ave, Gonzales. The tax counselors will begin assisting filers on Friday Feb.1, continuing each Wednesday and Friday between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. through April 10.

It is important to bring proof of ID, last years tax return and tax documents, such as W2 and 1099 forms, home insurance papers and home mortgage insurance premium documents for 2012 and real estate tax information..

This assistance is free and made possible by AARP, American Legion Post 81 and AARP volunteers.
