  • A rematch of the District 5-5A classic between St. Amant and St. Joseph's Academy highlights a busy Easter week for local sports.
    The Lady Gators hope to sweep SJA and gain more foothold on their top spot in district. In action last Monday, Gabrielle Felps smacked a solo homer in the top of the seventh for a 1-0 win over the Redstickers.
    The game will match STA pitcher Kasey Nielson (19-1) against Caroline Segara, who was tagged with the loss last week despite a stunning 15 strikeouts.
    The Dutchtown Lady Griffins hope to sweep the East Ascension Lady Spartans in action at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Dutchtown topped EAHS 5-3 in the first round.
    BASEBALL
    In another hot matchup, St. Amant hopes to gain ground on its tie for the top spot in 5-5A when the Gators visit Dutchtown.
    The Griffins beat St. Amant 8-1 in first-round district action.
    Also this week, East Ascension begins its second round action at McKinley. The Spartans look to gain momentum after a 13-3 loss Saturday at St. Amant.
    Duthctown, meanwhile, visits East Ascension at 6 p.m. Thursday.

    In track action, the St. Amant Invitational is set for Thursday. The meet begins with field competition at 3: 30 p.m. and track action at approxiomately 5:30.
