One man is dead in Gonzales after a fight in Geismar moved into the area.
Two groups of teenagers, attending a gathering at the Geismar Community Center, began fighting on Saturday night. Ascension Parish Sheriff's Officers were called, and the fight was broken up. When vehicles began leaving, some made their way to the Worthey Rd. area of Gonzales, and a shooting took place on Amber St. It was during this time that 18 year old Davonne Solomon was shot, and died later at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital as a result of his injuries.
Gonzales Chief of Police Sherman?Jackson said on Tuesday that during the course of the investigation, Nathan Curry became a person of interest. Detective Steven Nethken stated that Curry’s family brought him into the Gonzales Police headquarters on Tuesday morning in compliance with a warrant that had been issued. Curry was arrested on?Tuesday morning and taken to the Ascension?Parish Jail in?Donaldsonville.
Curry, 19, of 917 Carlos St., in Gonzales, has been charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of attempted second degree murder, as another person was hit during the shooting.
Curry is being held on a $150,000 bond.
