Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley reports that Shirley Marchand died earlier this morning as a result of injuries sustained during the attack that resulted in the deaths of her husband, Robert Irwin Marchand, and her son, Doug Dooley.
On February 18th, deputies discovered Mrs. Marchand, badly injured, laying beside her husband and son in their home on Babin Rd. She was being treated at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital where family members kept a constant vigil by her side. Sheriff’s Office deputies remained on guard in her room throughout her treatment.
Sheriff Wiley, who knew Mrs. Marchand personally, said that he would like to publicly express his condolences to the Marchand and Dooley family, at “such a tragic and senseless loss.” Wiley added that he and the members of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, “will continue to devote the full measure of Sheriff’s Office resources toward bringing those responsible for the commission of this horrific crime to justice.”
Sheriff Wiley continues to urge anyone with information to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867). Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000.00 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of persons responsible for these murders.
