Fall ball

Ever tried travel ball? Moving up? Your team doesn’t do fall ball? Give us a call! Lots of instruction but fun will be the goal for this 11-year-old fall ball team. This is for fall ball only, players committed all play for different spring teams. We have openings left for a few players. If there is enough interest we may have two teams. Blazers tryouts

Louisiana Blazers 18U Fastpitch softball tryouts will be Sunday, Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. at Walker Parks and Recreation Softball Field located at 13740 Ball Park Rd. Walker, LA  70785.  
The team will be coached by Frank Lee and Mark Maher.  
This team will be a college prep and college exposure team.

Travel baseball team offers no sign up fee, free uniforms, equipment, cleats and th e use of the private LA Wolves facilities.

Giants tryouts

The Gonzales Giants 11U AA baseball team will be holding tryouts Saturday, Aug. 13.
The team is looking for four dedicated baseball families for the upcoming 2011-12 fall and spring season. They will play 3-4 tournaments in the fall and 10-12 in the spring.

Softball tryouts

There is a new 14U?elite level travel team within the south Louisiana area. Tryouts are Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9-11 a.m. It will be at Butch Gore Park at 14550 Savoy Road, St. Amant, LA 70774.
All positions will be considered. The team has an elite level experienced coach with a .700 winning percentage that has recently relocated from the Kansas City area.
Focus will be on player growth, solid fundamentals and preparing for college exposure and recruitment.

The Ascension Astros 10-year-old baseball tournament team is having tryouts in August for the fall/spring 2012 season.

Tryouts for Velocity Baseball’s 2012 season for ages 9-14 will be Aug. 20 at Delrie Fields at North park in Denham Springs.
Ages 12-14 will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and ages 9-11 will be held from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Hunter safety

The 2011 Ascension Parish Hunter Safety Class schedule will be:
• Thursday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 20 (must make both days)
• Thursday, Sept. 22 and Saturday, Sept. 24 (must make both days)
• Thursday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 22 (must make both days)
All classes will be held at the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Range at 9139 St. Landry Road, Gonzales, on Rifle Range Road off of St. Landry Road, across from the Lamar-Dixon water tower.
All Thursday classes start at 6 p.m. and last until 9 p.m.
All Saturday classes start at 8 a.m. and last until 3 p.m.
You will need to bring something to write with and change for the vending machines. You will need to bring a lunch.
To pre-register for the class, go to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website at  www.wlf.louisiana.gov.
No walk-ins at the door.
