  • City of Gonzales and Ascension Parish Sheriff’s narcotics officers and agents arrested five suspects Monday around 10 p.m. who are accused of operating two separate methamphetamine labs at the Riverside Inn & Apartments in the city.
Gonzales Detective Sgt. Steven Nethken said his officers and the sheriff’s agents were accompanied by State Police narcotics agents as they followed up on information received about drug activity at the Riverside establishment at 108 E. Railroad St.
The labs were working separately and there was apparently no connection between the labs, Nethken said.
Management and tenants of Riverside Inn grew suspicious after noticing unusually high foot traffic and a strong chemical odor coming from the rooms where the labs were located, according to Nethken.
Persistence and attention to detail by agents involved led to the arrests and ultimate eradication of the clandestine labs, he said.
The following suspects were arrested and charged:
      • Manual Holleman, 42, of 22439 Snipe St., Maurepas, for possession of a Schedule II CDS, creation of clandestine Lab within 1, 000 feet of a school, possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of stolen firearm, and possession of firearm with obliterated serial number.
    • Stacie Farley, 39, of 15444 Los Arboles St., Gonzales, creation of clandestine lab within 1,000 feet of a school, for possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
    • David Bare, 47, of 11255 Hwy 22, St. Amant, possession of Schedule V CDS and possession of a stolen firearm.
    • Tate Anderson, 38, of 20510 Hwy 22, Maurepas, creation of clandestine lab within 1, 000 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
    • Casie Duplessis, 25, of 151 Latino Drive, Donaldsonville,  creation of clandestine lab within 1, 000 feet of a school, possession of Schedule II CDS, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The suspects are being held and the parish jail in Donaldsonville, pending bonding, Nethken said.
