PHIL ARVIA'S SOX-CUBS SCORECARD
HIT: For Game 3, here’s a plan: Walk Alfonso Soriano to lead off the game.
HIT: Hawk Harrelson’s ceremonial first pitch to Ozzie Guillen was about 2 mph shy of getting him a bullpen setup job.
ERROR: Maybe this would have meant something today at Soldier Field for the Gold Cup final, or to Fire fans who will enjoy his services starting next month, but Cubs fans would have been happier to see an appearance Saturday at U.S. Cellular Field by injured catcher Henry Blanco than Mexican soccer star Cuauhtemoc Blanco (who wanted to meet Guillen).
ERROR: Last season, Rich Hill referred to A.J. Pierzynski’s leveling of Michael Barrett as “gutless” and “pathetic.” Sort of like Hill’s attack on a water cooler in the dugout after getting yanked for issuing consecutive walks in the sixth inning.
ERROR: Organist Nancy Faust, climbing aboard an elevator before the game, shuddered at the suggestion that a rain delay would force her to run through her entire repertoire of songs, saying, “No one wants that.” Wrong, Nancy. We’d love it.
