BREAKING NEWS: Council chooses millage tax issue for LDEC on November ballot

Ascension Parish voters will have the chance to decide this fall if parish government should purchase the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, as the Ascension Parish Council voted 6-2 Tuesday to place a tax issue on the Nov. 4 ballot to fund the purchase and upgrade of the multi-use facility.

However, the council voted to place on the ballot a 3-mill property tax issue proposed by Parish President Tommy Martinez and not the 1/8-cent sales tax plan pitched at last week’s Finance Committee meeting.
